Let's talk about Botox and Fillers
We know that if we don’t do maintenance on our cars, homes and the other valuable belongings they will look run down and worn out. In order to protect our investments we must routinely evaluate for the need for updates, improvements and just general maintenance.
We should be doing the same with our bodies. Many of us maintain our bodies by eating healthy, drinking plenty of water, meditating and exercising. But what do we do to maintain our appearance? To begin with, good nutrition, healthy water intake and using daily sunscreen and moisturizers is essential in maintaining skin health. But what if that is not enough to make you feel good about your skin and your appearance?
Are you frustrated with age related changes and wrinkles on your face?
Do you feel that you look angry or sad?... even when you are not?
Have you begun to notice hollowing or flattening of your facial structure?
Does your appearance need a more refreshed look?
Are you curious about which treatments may be best for you?
Botox® and Dysport® are two well known brands of neuromodulators- they work very similarly to decrease muscle movement. They are often used to relax muscles of the face. By relaxing the muscles, which provide various facial expressions, the wrinkles are decreased or erased. Common areas of concern which are easily treated with a neuromodulator include forehead furrows, crow’s feet, frown lines and smile lines. Once injected, the effects are usually noticed in 3-5 days and last 3-4 months. There is little to no downtime.
Dermal fillers such as Juvederm® and Restylane® act as space fillers. Fillers are placed under the skin to provide volume and support. They are made of hyaluronic acid which is a substance found in your own skin. When injected there is also a stimulation of the body’s own collagen production, providing another increase to face volume. With fillers, you will see an immediate benefit which lasts 6 months to 1.5 years. There is little or no downtime. Some bruising and swelling may occur, but it is often easily covered by light make up.
Injection of these products is truly an art. It is important to find someone that has had sufficient training, expert skill and has an eye for the art of facial rejuvenation. You need someone that is willing to LISTEN to what you are looking for and understands what YOU want. At Olympus Wellness you can experience a consultation with an expert to discuss facial maintenance options including neuromodulators and dermal fillers.
