Annemarie Alf- Founder/Performance Physical Therapist at Olympus Movement Performance, Waterskier, Crossfit Athlete, Triathlete, UltraRunner
Annemarie is licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. She was the first American Physical Therapist to work with any Chinese Olympic Team at an Olympic Games. As the Performance Physical Therapist to the Men's and Women's Chinese Olympic Gymnastics Team she attended the 2012 London Olympic Games and provided daily evaluation and treatment of all gymnastics athletes. The Chinese Olympic Gymnastic team achieved eight total gymnastics medals, more than any other nation.
While in China, she was also a presenter to multiple Chinese National Teams and Provinces. Topics included Integrated Functional Performance Training, Physical Therapy, and Nutrition; The Benefits of an Integrated System for Specific Gymnastic Performance and Injury Prevention- Physical Therapy in China. She also worked with Chinese Olympic athletes from the beach volleyball, diving, volleyball, table tennis, judo, boxing, wrestling, Taekwondo, track and field, women’s rugby, handball, and weightlifting teams, to name a few.
From the beginning of her career, she developed a passion for training and working with athletes of all ages; from youth sports teams through elite and professional athletes. As the Sports Performance Director/Trainer for both Southern California and Arizona Gymnastics Programs, as well as many local soccer programs, she has repeatedly made a significant impact on the performance of athletes in her care. She continues to work with Region 1 USA Gymnastics on injury prevention and performance enhancement as well as Medical Coverage for Invitational and Regional Championship meets.
Annemarie spent six months at Athlete's Performance Arizona after returning from China. She successfully utilized clinical and functional evaluation skills with movement based treatment of professional, elite, and amateur athletes. Athlete outcomes included: successful return to sport with post- surgical cases of an NFL athlete, AFL athlete, MLB athlete to athletes with chronic (3-5+ years) returning to pain free functioning. She was professionally requested to be the Physical Therapist/ Performance Specialist to Xinjiang Province, China, in November 2012, where she was in charge of evaluation, treatment and training programming of elite provincial athletes including: Taekwondo, Track and Field, Beach Volleyball, Handball, and women's Rugby. During this time, Annemarie integrated an Accelerated Functional Post- surgical ACL protocol with successful outcome of return to sport for the number one ranked Female Taekwondo athlete.
In April 2014, Annemarie founded Olympus Movement and Mobility. Now located in the Greater San Diego area and is based in both Temecula and Carlsbad. She has returned to her roots, focusing on high school athletes, with elite runners in Temecula and gymnasts as well as soccer athletes in Carlsbad.
Annemarie, an athlete herself, is a National Champion Waterski Jumper, CrossFit athlete, UltraRunner and IRONMAN Canada finisher.
